Detailed information on mineral specimen No. 35609:

Minerals Species: Barite over Calcite.
Location of mineral deposit: Minerva #1 Mine, Cave-in-Rock District, Hardin County, Illinois.
Description: Lustrous white bladed barite crystals to 8 mm with translucent yellow scalenohedral calcite crystals to 4 mm on the rear. The barite crystals are translucent with transparent termination tips. Barite is uncommon in the Illinois fluorite mines. Though the crystals are clean and in good condition, a few show damage upon close inspection, but they are minor compared to the relative size of the specimen.
Overall size of mineral specimen: 5x5x2.5 cm.
Size of individual crystals: 1-8 mm
Price: $32 (plus shipping).
