Minerals Species: Pyrargyrite var. Ruby Silver.
Location of mineral deposit: Mina Santo Niño, Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico.
Description: Platy crystals of dark, metallic-looking pyrargyrite crystals that show red translucency when strongly rear-illuminated (which is why the miners called this mineral ruby silver ore). All crystals are complete and undamaged, except the outer edges where it was attached to surrounding matrix.
Overall size of mineral specimen: 24x17x8 mm.
Size of individual crystals: 2-17 mm.
Price: $38 (plus shipping).
