Minerals Species: Fluorite.
Location of mineral deposit: Elmwood Mine, Carthage, Smith County, Tennessee.
Description: A classic specimen of transparent purple fluorite with three cubic faces on one end and tapered, etched faces that are the result of dissolution of the surrounding fluorite. Can be displayed with either end up. 25 years ago these were VERY expensive. No damage is visible to the unaided eye, minute edge chipping is visible under 20x magnification. Ex. Steve Chamberlain collection #5525; acquired in 1983.
Overall size of mineral specimen: 48x22x18 mm.
Size of individual crystals: 16-48 mm.
Price: $65 (plus shipping).
