Minerals Species: Galena (Spinel-law twinned crystals).
Location of mineral deposit: Sweetwater Mine, Viburnum Trend, Reynolds County, Missouri.
Description: Lustrous metallic galena crystals with unusual flattened crystal habit the result of Spinel law twinning on the {111} plane. Repeated, multiple twin planes are visible on the edges similar to macle diamonds. No damage is visible to the unaided eye, minute edge chipping is visible under 20x magnification. Ex. Steve Chamberlain collection #2981; acquired in 1981; ex. J. Velthuizen #890.
Overall size of mineral specimen: 5x3.5x3 cm.
Size of individual crystals: 5-20 mm.
Price: $36 (plus shipping).
