Minerals Species: Andradite var. Melanite.
Location of mineral deposit: New Idria District, San Benito County, California.
Description: Large lustrous black andradite garnet crystals, variety melanite, on crystallized clinochlore-coated matrix. The andradite crystals are among the best I have seen from the locality, though two are chipped.
Overall size of mineral specimen: 8x5x2.5 cm.
Size of individual crystals: 0.5-13.0 mm.
Price: $150 (plus shipping).
