Minerals Species: Zoisite, var. Tanzanite Crystal.
Location of mineral deposit: Merelani Hills, western slope of Lelatama Mountains, Arusha Region, Tanzania. (Type Locality for Tanzanite) Click here to see other minerals from Type localities.
Description: Large lustrous tanzanite crystal, the trichroic transparent blue-violet variety of the mineral zoisite, with transparent gemmy termination and dark graphite inclusions in the base. This crystal shows excellent color change: front=blue, side=violet. The crystal faces are clean and in good condition, the outer edges show minor wear. Weight: 140 carats.
Overall size of mineral specimen: 46x18x18 mm.
Size of individual crystals: 46 mm.
Price: $3750 net (plus shipping).
