Minerals Species: Zircon var. Cyrtolite.
Location of mineral deposit: (Kinkel Quarry?), Bedford, Westchester County, New York.
Description: An exceptionally large plate of compact brown cyrtolite crystals, the metamict variety of zircon that has been altered by surrounding radioactive minerals, degrading the crystal structure. Radioactive. Ex. Chas. W. Velte Jr. (1914-1987) collection #507.
Overall size of mineral specimen: 10x6x3 cm.
Size of individual crystals: 1-5 mm.
Price: $250 (plus shipping).
