Minerals Species: Quartz var. Amethyst (Cactus Quartz).
Location of mineral deposit: Boekenhouthoek area, Mpumalanga Province, South Africa.
Description: Lustrous transparent purple amethyst quartz crystals in an unusual formation of small 5-10 mm amethyst crystals around the prism faces of a larger central amethyst crystal 35 mm high. Most crystals are complete and undamaged, but a few crystals have chipped terminations. All of the main crystals are complete and undamaged, but a lesser crystal is incomplete where it contacted surrounding matrix.
Overall size of mineral specimen: 3.5x3.5x3.2 cm.
Size of individual crystals: 5-35 mm.
Price: $40 (plus shipping).
