Detailed information on mineral specimen No. 49823:

Minerals Species: Spinel with Phlogopite.
Location of mineral deposit: Amity, Orange County, New York.
Description: Large octahedral black spinel crystals to 34 mm in parallel orientation in white marble with brown phlogopite mica crystals to 8 mm. The spinel crystals were etched from the surrounding marble and are exposed on front and rear. The specimen was extracted from solid rock, not from a cavity, resulting in minor surface imperfections where the surrounding matrix was removed. Collected ca. 1970.
Overall size of mineral specimen: 8x7x3.5 cm.
Size of individual crystals: 3-34 mm.
Price: $400 net (plus shipping).
