Detailed information on mineral specimen No. 50255:

Minerals Species: Corundum with Ilmenite.
Location of mineral deposit: Shimersville, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania.
Description: Translucent blue-gray corundum crystal with tapered, barrel-shaped hexagonal form and dark metallic ilmenite crystals to 2 mm are included in the surfaces. The surfaces of the corundum crystal are pitted with earthy remnants of soil in the crevices. This was specimen recovered from an alluvial deposit and the edges show wear, but the crystal form is distinct. Ex. Peter B. Nalle (1923-2010) collection #144; originally acquired ca. 1940.
