Detailed information on mineral specimen No. 51454:

Minerals Species: Hematite pseudomorphs after Magnetite (var. Martite).
Location of mineral deposit: Durango, Mexico.
Description: Classic formation of martite, an obsolete name for these hematite pseudomorphs of octahedral magnetite crystals, with a few calcite crystals that fluoresce under UV illumination. The magnetite crystallized then altered to hematite maintaining the shape. Though many crystals are complete and undamaged, there are missing or incomplete crystals scattered throughout. Ex. Larry Krause (1945-2010) collection.
Overall size of mineral specimen: 11x7x6 cm.
Size of individual crystals: 2-12 mm.
Price: $85 (plus shipping).
