Detailed information on mineral specimen No. 52631:

Minerals Species: Chrysocolla on Calcite with Chalcocite.
Location of mineral deposit: Chimney Rock Quarry, Bound Brook, Somerset County, New Jersey.
Description: Bright bluish-green chrysocolla partially coating translucent yellow rhombohedral calcite crystals to 9 mm with several dark-metallic chalcocite crystals to 5 mm. Groundwater altered the chalcocite freeing the copper to form the chrysocolla. The crystals grew in a constricted vein preventing complete crystal development. Most visible crystals are complete and undamaged. Ex. Robert Hauck collection, co-founder of the Sterling Hill Mining Museum. Collected ca. 1985.
Overall size of mineral specimen: 12x9x8 cm.
Size of individual crystals: micro to 9 mm.
