Minerals Species: Tanzanite Crystal (gem variety of Zoisite).
Location of mineral deposit: Karo Mine, Merelani Hills, western slope of Lelatama Mountains, Arusha Region, Tanzania. (Type Locality for Tanzanite) Click here to see other minerals from Type localities.
Description: My best large tanzanite crystal, the trichroic blue-violet gem variety of the mineral species zoisite, exhibiting excellent color change showing deep blue color when viewed from the side and deep violet color when viewed from the front. This tanzanite crystal is mounted on a display base that has an LED bulb that illuminates the crystal from the rear. If the purchaser does not want the illuminated base, I will remove the tanzanite crystal from the base. One crystal edge has a small chip, but all crystal faces are clean and undamaged. Weight: 112 carats.
Overall size of mineral specimen: 45x17x11 mm.
Size of individual crystals: 45 mm
Price: $8750 net (plus shipping).
