Minerals Species: Cornetite.
Location of mineral deposit: L'Etoile du Congo Mine, Lubumbashi, Shaba Copper Belt, Katanga, Democratic Republic of the Congo (Zaire). (Type Locality for Cornetite) Click here to see other minerals from Type localities.
Description: Lustrous transparent blue cornetite crystals to 1 mm on chrysocolla crusts on one face of matrix. The cornetite crystals look beautiful when viewed under magnification. The crystals grew in a constricted vein preventing complete crystal development. Most visible crystals are complete and undamaged.
Overall size of mineral specimen: 7x3.5x2 cm.
Size of individual crystals: 0.1-1.0 mm.
