Minerals Species: Barite on Calcite.
Location of mineral deposit: Elk Creek, Meade County, South Dakota.
Description: Several elongated lustrous transparent golden-brown barite crystals on yellow calcite-coated matrix. Both the calcite and barite fluoresce under UV illumination. More information see: Famous Mineral Localities- Elk Creek, S. Dakota in Min. Record v.18 #7 No damage.
Overall size of mineral specimen: 9x6x5 cm.
Size of individual crystals: 1-30 mm.
