Detailed information on mineral specimen No. 55473:

Minerals Species: Corundum var. Ruby.
Location of mineral deposit: Mysuru (formerly Mysore), Karnataka, India.
Description: Several translucent deep-pink ruby crystals, the pink gem variety of the mineral species corundum, well exposed on gray matrix. The ruby crystals are hexagonal form, slightly tapered, with crystallization patterns on the faces. The specimen was extracted from solid rock, not from a cavity, resulting in minor surface imperfections where the surrounding matrix was removed.
Overall size of mineral specimen: 6x6x4 cm.
Size of individual crystals: 2-18 mm.
Price: $250 (plus shipping).
