Minerals Species: Magnetite in quartz-albite.
Location of mineral deposit: Route 9 road cut, Beaver Meadow Road exit, Haddam, Middlesex County, Connecticut.
Description: Striated octahedral black magnetite crystal in quartz-albite from the rock exposure on the east side of Route 9 at the Beaver Meadow Road exit. The magnetite crystals is complete and highly magnetic. The specimen was extracted from solid rock, not from a cavity, resulting in minor surface imperfections where the surrounding matrix was removed. Ex. Dr. Donald Miller collection, collected by J. Fast.
Overall size of mineral specimen: 4x3x2.5 cm.
Size of individual crystals: 22 mm
Price: $65 (plus shipping).
