Minerals Species: Celestine.
Location of mineral deposit: Minerva #1 Mine, Cave-in-Rock District, Hardin County, Illinois.
Description: Lustrous pale-blue celestine (celestite) crystals in tapered aggregates of sub-parallel elongated crystals mounted on an acrylic display stand. Celestine was an uncommon mineral in the Illinois fluorite mines and highly sought by local collectors. The specimen formed in a cavity with many crystals intersecting in all directions. Most crystals are complete except in areas where they intersected adjacent crystals in the cavity. Ex. Roy A. Smith (1935-2014) collection.
Overall size of mineral specimen: 7.5x6.5x4 cm.
Size of individual crystals: 20-65 mm
Price: $275 (plus shipping).
