Detailed information on mineral specimen No. 66451:

Minerals Species: Almandine Garnet.
Location of mineral deposit: Roebling Mine, Upper Merryall, Litchfield County, Connecticut.
Description: Superb large specimen of almandine garnet crystals exposed on the face of feldspar-muscovite matrix with two rear faces sawn flat. The almandine garnet crystals are translucent brown, trapezohedral form, with lustrous flat faces. The specimen was extracted from solid rock, not from a cavity, resulting in minor surface imperfections where the surrounding matrix was removed. Ex. Charles M. Noll collection #CN2600; ex. James DuFoe collection #K-79.
Overall size of mineral specimen: 14x10x10 cm.
Size of individual crystals: 3-27 mm
Price: $675 net (plus shipping).
