Detailed information on mineral specimen No. 70824:

Minerals Species: Calcite in Quartz pseudomorphs after Anhydrite.
Location of mineral deposit: Upper New Street Quarry, Paterson, Passaic County, New Jersey.
Description: Lustrous transparent gray calcite crystals filling quartz pseudomorphs after anhydrite crystals. The anhydrite formed first; was overgrown with fine-grained quartz; the anhydrite later dissolved; then calcite grew in the elongated molds of anhydrite. From my personal collection; collected ca. 1985.
Overall size of mineral specimen: 33x32x25 mm.
Size of individual crystals: 20-25 mm pseudos
