Detailed information on mineral for sale No. 73666:

Mineral Species: Magnetite (rare cubic and tetrahexahedral crystal form) with minor Sphalerite.
Location of mineral deposit: ZCA Mine No. 4, Fowler Ore Body, 2500' Level, Balmat, St. Lawrence County, New York.
Description: Large double-sided cluster of many lustrous black magnetite crystals exhibiting rare cubic and tetrahexahedral crystal forms (magnetite is commonly octahedral) with one area overgrown by lustrous transparent colorless-to-red sphalerite crystals to 1 mm. The specimen formed in a cavity with many crystals intersecting in all directions. Most crystals are complete except in areas where they intersected adjacent crystals in the cavity. Overall size of mineral specimen: 7.5x7x4 cm.
Size of individual crystals: 1-11 mm
