Mineral Species: Malachite pseudomorphs after Azurite. Location of mineral deposit: Tsumeb Mine, 1st Oxide Zone, Upper Level, Otavi-Bergland District, Oshikoto, Namibia. Description: Superb well-defined green malachite pseudomorphs after rectangular azurite crystals to 25 mm. Blocky azurite crystals formed first, then altered molecule by molecule to malachite, while maintaining the original azurite shape. (Pseudomorphs=false form) Complete and undamaged except the contact where it was formerly attached to surrounding matrix. Ex. Georg Gebhard (author of Tsumeb I and Tsumeb II, the definitive reference books on Tsumeb). Overall size of mineral specimen: 4.5x3.5x2 cm. Size of individual crystals: 3-25 mm pseudos Price: $475 net (plus shipping). |
