| Mineral Species: Quartz var. Herkimer Diamond cluster. Location of origin: Herkimer Diamond Development Mine, Middleville, Herkimer County, New York. Description: Cluster of lustrous Herkimer Diamonds, the variety of clear quartz crystals from the vicinity of Herkimer County, with no matrix. The smaller Herkimer Diamonds on the periphery have translucent brown inclusions, probably hydrocarbon or dolostone. Complete and undamaged except the contact where it was formerly attached to surrounding matrix. Ex. Miller #M1231; collected in 2011. Overall size: 6x5.5x3 cm.
