Mineral Species: Elbaite var. Rubellite Tourmaline
(doubly-terminated). Location of origin: Paprok, Kamdesh District, Nuristan Province, Afghanistan. Description: Lustrous doubly-terminated transparent pink rubellite tourmaline crystals, the pink gem variety of elbaite, with white albite and muscovite on the rear. The rubellite crystals are elongated prisms with flat pinacoid terminations and pyramidal edge faces. No damage is visible to the unaided eye, but minor damage is visible under 20x magnification. Weight: 31.6 grams. Overall size: 45x22x18 mm. Size of individual crystals: 4-45 mm Price: $400 net (plus shipping).
