Mineral Species: Fluorite. Location of origin: Firestone Level, Skears Mine, Middleton-in-Teesdale, County Durham, England. Description: Lustrous yellow-gray transparent cubic fluorite crystals to 11 mm with areas of transparent tan calcite crystals to 0.5 mm in crevices between the fluorite crystals. The fluorite crystals have yellow core zones with banded translucent gray outer zones. Most of the crystals are complete and undamaged, but a few around the periphery are incomplete. Collected ca. 1980. Fluoresces bright blue-violet under SW-LW UV illumination. Overall size: 12.5x6x5 cm. Size of individual crystals: 0.1-11.0 mm Price: $750 net (plus shipping). |
