Description of Mineral Specimen for sale No. 81533:

Mineral Species: Rutile (V-twinned crystals).
Location of origin: Graves Mountain (Kyanite Mine), 19.5 km east of Washington, Lincoln County, Georgia.
Description: Lustrous red-black rutile crystals with remnants of brown limonite on the bottom where they were attached. The rutile crystals are twinned at 60° in V-shaped formation and have a post-crystallization deformation fracture that healed. Good red color. The specimen was extracted from solid rock, not from a cavity, resulting in minor surface imperfections where the surrounding matrix was removed. Collected ca. 1990.
Overall size: 4.5x4x3 cm.
Size of individual crystals: 30-35 mm
