Description of Mineral Specimen for sale No. 81671:

Mineral Species: Quartz var. Herkimer Diamonds.
Location of origin: Hickory Hill Diamond Diggings, Fonda, Montgomery County, New York.
Description: Lustrous transparent Herkimer Diamond crystal, the variety of quartz crystals from the Herkimer region, with a smaller crystal on one corner, on a fragment of brown dolostone. Herkimer clusters are rare because they separate during collecting. The specimen formed in a cavity with many crystals intersecting in all directions. Most crystals are complete except in areas where they intersected adjacent crystals in the cavity. Collected in 1995.
Overall size: 20x14x14 mm.
Size of individual crystals: 8-20 mm
Price: $30 (plus shipping).
