Description of Mineral Specimen for sale No. 82069:

Mineral Species: Tanzanite (blue-violet color change gem variety of Zoisite).
Location of origin: D-Block Mine, Merelani Hills, western slope of Lelatama Mountains, Arusha Region, Tanzania. (Type Locality for Tanzanite) Click here to see other minerals from Type localities.
Description: Lustrous transparent tanzanite crystal, the trichroic blue-violet gem variety of zoisite, with transparent gemmy areas especially the termination. The tanzanite crystal shows slight color change: front=blue, side=violet. Complete and undamaged except the contact where it was formerly attached to surrounding matrix. Weight: 3.57 carats. Ex. Miller collection T2764; acquired in 2011 from E. Greene.
Overall size: 12x8x4 mm.
Size of individual crystals: 12 mm
Price: $95 (plus shipping).
