Description of Mineral Specimen for sale No. 82339:

Mineral Species: Halite.
Location of origin: Soda Lake, 103 km east of San Luis Obispo, Carrizo Plain, San Luis Obispo County, California.
Description: Lustrous transparent-to-translucent colorless cubic halite crystals on an earlier generation of smaller halite crystals. This halite specimen is not from the common Searles Lake deposit, but from the little-collected Soda Dry Lake locality. The specimen formed in a cavity with many crystals intersecting in all directions. Most crystals are complete except in areas where they intersected adjacent crystals in the cavity. Fluoresces under LW and SW ultraviolet illumination. Ex. Miller collection T3646; ex. Betts #77602; originally acquired in August 1998 from Al Rose (Fallbrook, Ca.).
Overall size: 2.5x2x1.5 cm.
Size of individual crystals: 1-10 mm
