Description of Mineral Specimen for sale No. 82369:

Mineral Species: Almandine Garnet and Dravite in Phyllite.
Location of origin: Red Embers Mine, Erving, Franklin County, Massachusetts.
Description: Transparent red almandine garnet crystal and black dravite in a plate of gray phyllite. The almandine garnet crystal is trapezohedral form with dodecahedral corner faces. The rear phyllite was removed behind the garnet crystal, can be rear illuminated. The specimen was extracted from solid rock, not from a cavity, resulting in minor surface imperfections where the surrounding matrix was removed. Ex. Miller collection T2652; acquired from E. Greene in 2015.
Overall size: 21x21x15 mm.
Size of individual crystals: 3-8 mm
Price: $55 (plus shipping).
