Description of Mineral Specimen for sale No. 82393:

Mineral Species: Pyrite in matrix.
Location of origin: Mina Ampliación a Victoria, Navajún, La Rioja, Spain.
Description: Perfect cubic crystal of yellow-metallic pyrite in tan matrix. The pyrite crystal has sharp edges and smooth faces. Beginners frequently ask how these are made and are amazed that they crystallize perfectly in the clay-rich matrix. No damage is visible to the unaided eye, but minor damage is visible under 20x magnification. Ex. Miller collection T1742; acquired from E. Greene in 2012.
Overall size: 26x22x22 mm.
Size of individual crystals: 10 mm
Price: $25 (plus shipping).
