Mineral Species: Willemite, Franklinite, Calcite. Location of origin: Trotter Mine Dump, Franklin Mine, Sussex County, New Jersey. (Type Locality for Franklinite) Click here to see other minerals from Type localities. Description: Tan willemite and black-metallic franklinite in gray calcite collected during a one day field trip where the dumps were excavated with a backhoe. The willemite fluoresces green under LW-SW UV illumination and the calcite fluoresces orange under SW UV. Ex. Miller collection T3742; ex. Betts #77448; collected 4 June 1994 during the FOMS field trip. Overall size: 29x21x13 mm. Size of individual crystals: 1-2 mm Price: $24 (plus shipping). |
