Description of Mineral Specimen for sale No. 82896:

Mineral Species: Astrophyllite.
Location of origin: Khibiny Massif, Kola Peninsula, Murmanskaja Oblast', Northern Region, Russia.
Description: Superb large individual crystals of lustrous dark red-black astrophyllite intermixed with platy lustrous translucent gray crystals to 5 mm of unidentified mineral, possibly barite. Individual crystals of astrophyllite are uncommon. The specimen formed in a cavity with many crystals intersecting in all directions. Most crystals are complete except in areas where they intersected adjacent crystals in the cavity. Ex. Miller collection T1510 originally acquired in 2011 from Chris Wright (1946-2014) private collection for $195.
Overall size: 30x18x14 mm.
Size of individual crystals: 2-12 mm
Price: $75 (plus shipping).
