Description of Mineral Specimen for sale No. 339:

Mineral Species: Goethite, Quartz, Magnetite.
Location of origin: Staten Island Highlands iron mining district, New York City, Richmond County, New York.
Description: Lustrous rounded black goethite 10-15 crystals in layered hemispherical formations to 15 mm with brown ferruginous quartz crystals to 1 mm a few black magnetite microcrystals. The goethite, magnetite and quartz formed from decomposed serpentine. Ex. Irving Horowitz collection #1146.
Overall size: 8.5x7x4 cm.
Size of individual crystals: micro to 15 mm
