Description of Mineral Specimen for sale No. 349:

Mineral Species: Almandine Garnet.
Location of origin: 65th Street at Columbus Avenue, Manhattan Island, New York City, New York County, New York.
Description: Single crystal of red-brown almandine garnet with sharp, trapezohedral crystal form. These almandine garnet crystals were discovered in 1888 by young Gilman Stanton during construction. Stanton later grew-up to become NYMC president. Ex. Gilman Stanton (1872-1954) in 1888. See Manchester's description in Minerals of New York City and It's Environs (1931)..
Overall size: 12x12x12 mm.
Size of individual crystals: 12 mm
