Description of Mineral Specimen for sale No. 350:

Mineral Species: Schorl Tourmaline in Quartz-Albite.
Location of origin: west shore of Manhattan Island at 102 Street, New York City, New York County, New York.
Description: Partial crystal of lustrous black schorl tourmaline in smoky quartz-albite (var. oligoclase) matrix. The schorl tourmaline crystal came loose during extraction and was restored to position. Personally collected in 1997 from excavated rock used as landfill in Riverside Park.
Overall size: 7x5x4.5 cm.
Size of individual crystals: 30 mm
