Quantity Discounts

Since Internet sales are basically nonnegotiable, I post minerals at my lowest retail price.
Discounts are offered only to motivate buyers to purchase 4 specimens at a time, because it reduces labor in packing shipments.
I would rather lose money than spend time shipping packages with only one mineral in each.
As a reminder, my order form lists the discount policy between the entry for the third specimen and the fourth specimen.

Customers purchasing 4 or more minerals at one time, we extend the following discounts:

- 10% off on orders over $200
- 15% off on orders over $400
- 20% off on orders over $600

These discounts do not apply to single specimens priced above these values, only on purchases of 4 or more minerals.
These discounts apply to each transaction at the time of payment - they do not apply to orders with multiple payment methods or accumulate over multiple purchases.

 Minerals Marked NET
Discounts do not apply to specimens with the notation "net" after the price.
These mineral specimens are priced at the lowest price possible and cannot be discounted.

However, the value of the "net" priced specimens does apply to the total to qualify for the discounts listed above.
For example, an order for the following four specimens:

aquamarine crystal, $400 net
pyrite crystal, $32
cassiterite crystal, $90
analcime cluster, $100

Sub Total: $622

The subtotal exceeds the $600 minimum to qualify for 20% discount.
However, the $400 aquamarine is priced "net" so the discount only applies to the remaining three specimens.
Total discount = $44.40 ($222 x 20%).

 Please do not request additional discounts. 

Returns

 If any items in a large order, where automatic discount were applied, are returned the discount is recalculated for the items kept.
If fewer than 4 items are kept the discount is completely eliminated.
This requirement is to prevent overinflated orders to receive a discount when only one item is meant to be kept.
