Description: | Blocky crystal of dark brown sphalerite with termination coated with earthy smithsonite. Probably from the Picos de Europa deposit, first opened in the 1860s. World renowned W.S. Vaux was the donor, an indication of the quality at the time. Ex. Westtown School (West Chester, Pa.) Collection no. 5792, donated by William Sansom Vaux (1811-1882). |
