Mineral:Quartz var. Herkimer Diamond with Calcite
Locality:Eastern Rock Products Quarry (Benchmark Quarry), St. Johnsville, Montgomery County, New York
Description:Large cluster of Herkimer Diamond crystals (colorless, doubly-terminated quartz crystals) on matrix with calcite and dolomite. The largest crystal fractured, later calcite formed INSIDE the crack. No damage, other than the natural fracture.
