Mineral:Galena on Fluorite
Locality:Stotsfieldburn Mine, Weardale, County Durham, England
Description:Quartz matrix with purple crystals of fluorite up to 18 mm. Overgrown on the fluorite are large, complex crystals of metallic galena up to 4 cm across. The galena crystals are basically cubo-octahedral form with complex modifications (and twinning?). Ex. Dr. Eugene E. Sensel (1911-2000) collection #BL50 (retirement gift in 1971)
