Description: | Rich specimen of crystallized native selenium on dark shale matrix. The selenium crystals formed when a coal culm bank burned causing the selenium to precipitate. Looks beautiful under magnification. With Lininger's handwritten label. Ex. Jay Lininger (1939-2004) collection P-045; auction lot 263, item no. 01229; ex. Bryon Brookmyer collected in 1974 |
