Description: | A beautiful polished cross-section of a petrified Araucarioxylon (pine) tree trunk. The original wood was replaced atom by atom with quartz chalcedony leaving the original shape visible. Polished by Jack Rorer in geology lab at the University. Ex. John A. Rorer, Jr. collection #296; Purchased on a cross country trip in 1948. |
