Mineral:Fluorite with Bitumen
Locality:Cave-in-Rock District, Hardin County, Illinois
Description:Cubic crystal of transparent fluorite with blue-purple color with areas of black bitumen (naturally occurring petroleum) coating. The bitumen can be removed by soaking in solvents. Scattered damage throughout.
