Locality:Sar-e-Sang, Kokscha Valley, Badakshan, Afghanistan
Description:Single crystal of sodalite, variety hackmanite, frozen in white marble matrix. The hackmanite fades to pale-blue in white light, and turns deep purple when exposed to UV light (this reaction is known as tenebrescence). A good complete crystal.
