Mineral:Sphalerite with Calcite
Locality:Elmwood Mine, Carthage, Smith County, Tennessee
Description:Limestone matrix plate crowned with translucent lustrous red-brown sphalerite crystals up to 15 mm with overgrowth of transparent orange calcite crystals (that fluoresce under UV illumination) up to 10 mm. Minute damage to a few crystals.
