Locality:Lime Crest Quarry (Limecrest), Sussex Mills, 4.5 km northwest of Sparta, Sussex County, New Jersey
Description:Complex octahedral crystal of dark purple-black spinel embedded in white marble matrix with minor pyrite. The spinel crystal has faces composed of smaller, parallel crystal faces. This is a large crystal for the locality (now flooded). Ex. Don Belsher collection
