Mineral:Hematite pseudomorphs after Magnetite with Augite
Locality:Twin Peaks, Millard County, Utah
Description:Dark metallic hematite pseudomorphs after magnetite crystals up to 7 mm across with prismatic black augite crystals up to 15 mm long. This formation used to be called martite, but is now recognized to be a pseudomorph. The old label lists it from Moab. Ex. Steve Chamberlain collection #5959; ex. Metzger; ex. Bentley
