Description: | Transparent amethyst crystals, the purple variety of the mineral species quartz. The amethyst crystals are in a 35 mm thick banded formation that filled a narrow vein. The purple color is deeper in phantom zones within the crystals. Ex. Henry D. Miller (1838-1919 or 1920) collection, bequeathed to the Wadsworth Atheneum in 1909; ex. Loomis-Chaffee School |
