Description: | Rare bladed crystals of translucent brown siderite on crystallized quartz matrix. Siderite was the principle iron ore at this mine and was usually massive. This is the first specimen of the bladed crystal habit that I have seen. Ex. Henry D. Miller (1838-1919 or 1920) collection, bequeathed to the Wadsworth Atheneum in 1909; ex. Loomis-Chaffee School |
