Locality:Hiddenite, Alexander County, North Carolina
Description:Compound crystal of dark rutile with highly lustrous crystal faces. The rutile crystal is translucent red, but appears black unless rear-illuminated. A small fragment of green muscovite mica is included in the base of the rutile crystal. Ex. J. Cilen (1916-1997) #7410; originally acquired from Irvin in 1976
